First Daffodil

Yesterday afternoon was so lovely that we decided to celebrate the coming of spring by having a glass of wine on the patio before dinner.

As we sat down, I noticed that my first daffodil of the year is blooming. “Ice Follies“, for those of you who care. The flowers are very long lasting, and theĀ  yellow cup will gradually fade to a cream-color as the flower ages.

I can’t wait for mine! I did see purple crocus this afternoon — in the rain. They took me by surprise, and it was raining cats and dogs, so I couldn’t stay long to enjoy them.

There’s nothing so cheerful. We probably won’t see any until late April, but the shoots are coming up!
