What Else is on the Needles

When I’m taking a break from working on Shauna, I’m working on some smaller projects. I decided to do a set of tea towels, using the Basket Rib Hand Towel pattern (on Ravelry here). I’m planning on doing four, and have 2 done, plus part of a third:
I’m using Knit Picks CotLin, as specified in the pattern, and using one skein per towel. It makes a rather small hand towel, but it will be fine for the intended use. I’ll be using them when I make tea using the Gongfu teapots. The teacups end up getting rather wet on the bottoms, so these towels will be for absorbing all of the drips. (Hence my choice of “tea color” for the yarn – the colorway is actually “Cashew”.) I can use one towel if I’m just serving tea by itself and just need to wipe off drips, or each person can have one as a little placemat if I’m serving snacks, since they’re large enough for a small plate in addition to the teacups.
So far, I really like the CotLin. It’s slightly rough to knit with, but not bad. And after being thrown in the washer and dryer, it ends up really soft, squishy, and absorbent. It seems like a great yarn to use for towels or wash cloths. It would probably be great for children’s clothes, too. Some people commented on Ravelry that they found it very linty to work with. I haven’t had that problem, but I guess different lots may have more or less of a problem.

Ohhh.. I love the look of the towels. They will be perfect with the tea set!
I think I am ging to try out this pattern.
So cute!
Thanks for the yarn review. I’ve always wondered about that yarn. It comes in a green that I love, but since you can’t touch before buying, I’ve always held back.
I’d successfully stuffed away my desire to knit hand towels. Darnit.
Great idea!
Awesome. Sounds like the perfect addition to a tea party.
Those are going to be nice!
What a cute use for them.
