After my flurry of quick projects, I’m finally returning to my long-neglected Drops 78-11 cardigan.
I started this over four months ago, but sort of lost interest in it after I got through the lace portion and a couple of inches into the stockinette. But now it’s done except for the sleeves. The sleeves on the original pattern are designed with about 3.5″ of stockinette at the cuff, then about 3.5″ of the lace pattern above it, then stockinette up to the top. (You can’t really tell from the pattern photo.) I don’t really think I like that, so I’ll probably just do lace for the last part of the cuff and bind off – I just haven’t decided yet how long to make the lace portion. Since I’m not sure what I’ll do, I decided to pick up stitches around the armhole and knit the sleeves downward. I’ll worry about the cuffs later.
I guess instead of being my last sweater for 2009, it will be the first sweater for 2010. But I’m thinking it actually looks kind of cute with the short sleeve. I could end it now, knit the other sleeve to match, slap on some buttons, and slip it in under the wire… Hmmmm.
Well, whatever I decide, I hope you all have a fun (but safe) New Year’s Eve.

pretty! you too!
Happy and safe New Year’s Eve to you, too!
What you wear it more with long or short sleeves? Either way, it is very cute.
Happy New Year!
It would look good either way? Which sleeves would get more wear?
Happy New Year!
It IS cute short-sleeved!
It would be cute with short sleeves. Which way would get more wear. Oh, I see someone else already asked.
Happy New Year! I’m so happy and lucky to have you in my life.
What a beautiful cardi. I really like the lace pattern, and the way it looks in that yarn & color. As Dave would say, sweet knitting!
Agree with Margene: whichever is more useful to you, since both options are going to be good.
