I decided to whip up a scarf and hat to go with Kyra. I saw this Cascade 128 in Cordovan at my LYS, and thought the little flecks of color would be nice with the orange.
The scarf is just a mistake rib, with a slipped selvedge. It’s on Ravelry as the “Go To Scarf“.
Simple and mindless knitting.
I haven’t decided on a hat pattern yet. I might do another Wurm, or something similar. And who knows, I might even get carried away and make matching mittens or gloves. I’m in the mood for some small projects after all of those sweaters.
I was wearing Katherine’s capelet last night at SnB when it got cold. It was just a simple reverse-stockinette piece made from a heathered Eco Wool. I’ve looked at a few before, and considered making one, but I wasn’t sure I’d really like it. But I liked how hers looked on me, so I may have to do one.
But this morning, I realized that it would be an awesome thing to knit for my mother. Since she’s in a wheelchair, coats are a bit difficult for her to wear – but this would be easy to put on and take off, and still give her some warmth. I’d just have to make sure that it wasn’t too tight at the bottom so as not to restrict her arm movements, and had a big enough head opening that she could put it on without mussing up her hair. Something like this one would probably be just right.

YAY! I love presents that are Just Right.
That would be wonderful for her!
You might end up knitting two…one for your mom and one for you!
I love how squooshy mistake rib scarves are!
how neat, doing and writing and enjoying knitting itself. i used to knit a lot, but nobody in my family wanted to use what I knitted for them, 2 sweaters I knitted for my other half, partner, 10 years ago, are still buried under the suitcase.
Knitting is an art, self-taught, creative, takes patience and time, fulfilling…
i enjoyed your multiple skills.
That would certainly be a nice present for your mom!
