Knitting Progress

I’m getting close to finishing up Kyra, and I’m loving it already.

Kyra

I absolutely adore the gigantic collar, even though it’s a real pain in the neck to knit. The “rib” consists of a two-stitch cable twist separated by a purl stitch. The cable twist is done EVERY SINGLE ROW. It goes on forever, and it’s hard on my hands. It also eats yarn like crazy. But it looks nice. I used two full skeins of yarn on the collar, and it’s still a couple of inches shorter than the pattern suggests. But I figured I’d stop there and finish up the sleeves, then make the collar a little longer if I have enough yarn.

The cuffs are supposed to just be done in a regular rib pattern, but I’m thinking it would be nice to do the twisted rib pattern instead.

Oh! It’s just gorgeous. Some of those beautiful pattern stitches can be such a pain to knit, but it definitely looks like it was worth it in this case.

Oh, definitely do the cool cable stitches on the cuffs – I think it’ll tie the whole thing together well. (And it’s one of those things that makes me wonder why the designer didn’t do that…)
