We Are Not Amused

Since my mother is moving out of her house, we’ve had tons of stuff to pack and get rid of. Last week we had the Multiple Sclerosis Society come out to pick up a bunch of stuff. Of course, it snowed the day they scheduled it. And they tell you they want the stuff outside by 8 a.m. So off I went, early in the morning, to drag everything outside and carefully cover it with tarps so it wouldn’t get soaked. M.S. showed up at 3 p.m. and only took half the stuff (the stuff under one tarp, but not the other…), so what was left all had to get dragged back into the garage.
Now we have even more stuff to donate, so we arranged for pickup again, which they scheduled for today. And of course, this is what I woke up to:
A nice present - 8″ of snow. Do they check the weather report and schedule pickups for the worst possible day on purpose? Sigh. So I had to spend the morning shoveling my driveway, then her driveway, then dragging all of the boxes out again, with tarps under and over to keep everything from being ruined by the snow and melting snow.
All of this while wearing a back support that I’ve been wearing for a week after injuring back when I did this the first time.
I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to going back there this afternoon to deal with anything that they don’t pick up.

That’s why I just trash most stuff instead of donating. It never turns out like you think. I’m sorry your back is hurting!
Oh no! I hope your back feels better soon and isn’t aggrivated by all this shuffling of stuff! Maybe this time they’ll pick up everything that they’re supposed to. *crosses fingers*

Hmm, maybe these pickups are CAUSING the snow.
At least the suffering is universal! I want spring now! I’m so over snow!
Leave it out there and stick FREE signs on it. It will disappear.

I agree with putting it in the front lawn with a “free” sticker. That’s how we got ride of a portable basketball net. It was gone in a flash.
WHAT?! a portable basketball net? dang — I always miss the good stuff. uh, Cheryl, your mom wouldn’t happen to be needing to get rid of a portable basketball net, would she?

I’m sorry about the donating, too. I like the ‘free’ sign idea. What does the MS Society do with it anyway?
