EPS Complete!

Wherein we show off a pretty sweater with some really crappy photos.
Sorry for the none-too-great photos, but it’s not likely that I’ll have anything better before the weekend, if even then. You can click them for larger, though they don’t get much better.

Pattern: Fair Isle Yoke Sweater from “Knitting Around” by Elizabeth Zimmermann. Knitted for […]

Buttons 101

I was originally going to get black buttons for my EPS Cardigan, but was having trouble finding enough of the same button - seems like there’d only be 6 in stock, when I needed 7. I ended up getting some burgundy buttons that match the color of the cardigan fairly well, though they’re not all […]

Swatching

I haven’t been doing too much other than swatching for the past few days while EPS is blocking. Above are samples of Tahki Donegal Tweed, Classic Elite Skye Tweed, and Rowan Calmer (which is a dark plum color, not that you can tell from the awful photo above taken in a very dark room).
I […]

Hey Beret

While waiting for my “Cardigan Details” DVD to arrive so I could finish the steek on the EPS cardigan, I needed something else to work on.

Pattern: Urchin, by Ysolda (Knitty Fall 2007). Ravelry link here.
Yarn: Plymouth Baby Alpaca; 1 skein; color 679
Needles: US 11 (8 mm)
Size: I knitted size medium, even though I thought small […]

Snip!

The steek is cut!
After trying out a few techniques with the sewing machine (trust me, don’t even bother trying it with the feed dog down), I got the brilliant idea of using the walking foot I bought when I was quilting. Of course, I had to remember how to put the darn thing on my […]

Whazzat?

It’s my crocheted steek. I’m going to machine stitch it too, but I still wanted to do the crochet so it would have a nice edge. I wanted to use a lighter-weight yarn for the steek. The yarn I used is KnitPicks Telemark in Brass Heather. It has little flecks of red mixed in with […]

Finished the Yoke!

I’m finished with the yoke, and ready to start the steeking process. Well, maybe I’ll weave the underarms and all of the loose threads first.
Not that I’m stalling or anything. Ahem. It’s just that I’d like to admire it a bit before I start major surgery.

EPS Yoke

ETA: Deleted and reposted, fixing some HTML code that might have been causing Ravelry’s feed to barf.

I’m almost finished with the yoke on the EPS cardigan - just a few more rows to go. I’m very happy with the newer version. I was going to start the yoke patterning 1″ above the sleeve join, but […]

Breakfast for Dinner

I went to a pot-luck dinner on Saturday, and tried to figure out what type of main dish to make that was vegetarian and that was either fast to make, or where the preparation could be done ahead of time.
I decided that this Make Ahead Breakfast Casserole fit the bill. True, it’s not vegetarian, but […]

Elegant Gauntlets

My “Elegant Gauntlets” are finished, and I love them! I’ve been wearing them around the house since I finished them this morning. They’re nice and cozy, and a perfect fit.
Pattern:  “Elegant Gauntlets” from “The Knitting Experience, Book Two: The Purl Stitch” by Sally Melville. The pattern was well-written, clear, and easy to follow.  Ravelry […]
