Barely Buzzed

I love cheese, and enjoy rummaging through the gourmet cheese selections in the grocery stores, looking for something interesting that I haven’t tried before.
The other day I picked up some locally-produced cheese. (Where? Hmmm. Harmon’s at the Brickyard, I think. I’ve been to several different grocery stores in the last few days.) Anyway, I didn’t really pick it for any particular reason other than that it was a local cheese that I hadn’t heard of, and it looked interesting – pale yellow with a blackish rind. It’s from Beehive Cheese Co., and it’s called “Barely Buzzed”.
I sliced up a bit of it this afternoon, and really liked it. I was curious to find out what the “black stuff” was, so I looked at the label (something I hadn’t done when I bought it). Ground coffee and French Lavender. Say what?! Well, of course I had to have another slice, but this time with some of the rind. Wow – what an interesting flavor! That sent me to look it up on the Internet, where I found out that “Barely Buzzed” took first place in the Flavored Cheddar category at the 2007 American Cheese Society Competition. Well. Who knew? Guess I picked a winner.

Oh my…now that sounds like a lovely cheese!
Sounds like you indeed picked a winner! My co-op has a lovely little “ends” bin from cutting up the cheeses, and I’ll try different things from that, at
Yum! Sounds good! I love picking up random cheeses, although last time I picked out a German “Beer” Cheese (what that means, I don’t know)… but it was disgusting!!
Maybe from now on I’ll just pick up cheese that you recommend!
That is VERY different! I probably would have loved it BEFORE my daughter spilled lavender in the freezer.
