White Stuff

What’s that funny white stuff out there?

Could it be? Did we finally get snow?

Well, sure enough!

To celebrate the arrival of winter weather, we had one of my favorite treats for breakfast this morning. Eggnog French Toast. You don’t really need a recipe, just substitute eggnog for the milk (or cream) in your regular recipe, and otherwise make it the same as you usually would.

If you must have a recipe, just mix up a proportion of 1 egg to about 1/4 cup eggnog, multiplied by the number of people to be served. For big eaters, you may need more.  I used 2 eggs and 1/2 cup eggnog to feed 2 people, using 4 slices of bread from a large, round loaf of bread. YMMV. Anyway, swish up the eggs and eggnog together. If you’re feeling creative, sprinkle in some cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin pie spice, or vanilla extract. Soak the bread slices in the egg mixture for a few minutes to saturate them, then fry ‘em up and enjoy. Ours were topped with real maple syrup, of course.
