I used the handy-dandy Random Number Picker to determine the winner of the contest, and the mug goes to post number 7 … Heather!
This brings us to Part Two: Share the love! This is your homework for the next week.
If you posted about a living individual, share your feelings with her. Email her, comment on her blog, call her, tell her in person, or do whatever you need to do to let her know that you appreciate or admire her (if you’ve already done so or you know she’s read your comment, good for you – you’re off the hook!)
For those of you who just made general comments about groups of people, I know sometimes it’s hard to single someone out, and maybe you’re concerned that if you mention just one person, other people might feel bad. But this is about letting someone know how much you appreciate them, and now you won’t be posting your comment on my blog for everyone to see, so there’s no excuse. So over the next week I want you to pick out at least one person you admire, and tell him or her, even if it’s just in a comment on one of their blog posts. Don’t wait until it’s too late, okay?
And by the way, for those of you who receive compliments – we often don’t feel worthy of the praise and downplay whatever someone said. If someone tells you they like your dress, you say something like “oh, this old thing?” or if they admire your knitting, you say “oh, it’s full of mistakes”. Well, stop it! Learn how to just say “Thank you, that’s very nice.” or “Thank you, I appreciate that.” Or if nothing else, just “Thanks”. Don’t make the person who complimented you feel silly for saying something.
Now I’d like to say thanks to all of you for playing along!

What a good thought, Cheryl! OK, I’ll do that!
Congrats to Heather! I promise I’ll do the homework
Lauren just emailed me…what a great idea, Cheryl, to let people know how much they mean to us. You’re taking the words right out of my mouth…few of us know how to say a proper “thank you”. It’s so important to recognize our own talents. Here’s my homework: I admire you not only for your knitting but for the way you live your life. I’m very happy you are my friend.
Congrats to Heather. And I echo Margene’s comment. A big “thank you” to Cheryl for bringing fun (and fabulous FOs) to SnB!
Congrats, Heather!
congrats heather!
