Blue Monday

Today was the memorial service for our friend David. It was a touching tribute to him, and as is usually the case, we learned much about him that we hadn’t known before. I knew that he was a musician, but didn’t know that he played the clarinet. Or that he told his father that he wanted a career in music, because it was the only thing in his life that had really challenged him. But it was clear that he enjoyed a challenge, in whatever he did. Eileen spoke at the memorial and said some things that many of us felt. She (as well as some of our other SnB bloggers) posted a photo of David taken last year, knitting socks in the park. This is the image that most of us have of him - his head of curls bent over his knitting. We’ll miss you David, sleep well.

I miss him as well, I share in your grief, and don’t think I will ever quite get over him not being here. Thank you for taking him in to your knitting circle and loving him so kindly.
