In Memoriam
Published August 17, 2007 by cheryl
Our SnB group was saddened today to find out that one of our members passed away earlier this week. David was an amazing knitter who would often entertain us with his quick wit and musical talent. It just doesn’t seem real, and I keep thinking that I’ll find out that it’s all a mistake. I want to say something about his beautiful curly hair (which he hated), the fabulous sweaters and socks he knitted, or how he liked Bruce Campbell movies, Kurt Vonnegut, and the Reubens at the Jitterbug Coffee Hop… but really, what can you say. It all seems so empty.
Rest in peace.

It’s so sad and I always feel on the verge of tears (and have shed many). David was such a big part of our group…it’s devastating to know he was so troubled.
One of the first things I said to him when we first met was that I thought his hair was so cool–like Michael Stipe’s. He looked at me like, “You’ve got to be kidding!” I had forgotten that. It’s all very surreal, and I still can’t believe he’s gone.
I’m so sorry to hear about your friend David.
I’ve been trying to find a picture of him hunched over his socks, knitting away furiously, but I can’t, although that’s the image that sticks in my head it seems wrong that I haven’t captured it to share.
Beautifully written, Cheryl
I don’t know how to knit but I want to be a part of your group!! Perhaps that is how I can relive his spirit forever, I will go get a book and learn how to knit.
