Lake and Shore

I’m still working on the VLT Curved Shawl, and I’ve finally made it to 100 rows on the body (out of 168). I’d show you a photo, but it wouldn’t really look a lot different from the last one. But at least progress is being made. Unfortunately, it’s knit starting at the “small” end, I still have a looong way to go.

After finishing “Carla”, I needed something a bit more mindless than the shawl to work on while I’m at SnB (or at the doctor’s office, sitting in the waiting room). I decided to start on the “Shore Set Hoodie” from Knitter’s Magazine Issue 86, Spring 2007. I’m using Lion Brand Cotton-Ease, in “Lake” (appropriate, don’t you think?). I’ve been wanting to buy a long-sleeved swimsuit coverup for quite a while, but hadn’t found one I liked. Then I saw this pattern and figured I might as well make one! The pattern uses a textured yarn and is knit in reverse stockinette to produce a terry-cloth kind of result, but since I’m using the Cotton-Ease instead, I decided to knit it in stockinette and just set off the cable panels with a couple of purl stitches on each side. It’s a quick enough knit that if I decide I don’t like it, it won’t be a big deal to frog it, but so far it looks okay.
