What’s Up, Doc?

carrots

Rainbow-colored carrots, straight from the garden. In case you’re wondering, the red, purple, and yellow ones pretty much taste like regular carrots, although perhaps not as sweet. The white ones have sort of a peppery flavor, perhaps a bit like a parsnip. I used them for this Spiced Carrots recipe, which we really enjoyed. Although there’s sugar in the recipe, they’re not sweet like candied carrots, and the cinnamon really adds a great taste.

I seriously need to buy a house with room for a BIG GARDEN! Oh, and I’ll need a gardener.

    And lots of $ :)

Simply gorgeous. Here’s my fave ginger recipe. Purists will tell you to peel and chop fresh ginger, to soak and boil the carrots in water with the ginger, I say–use this and eat gingered carrots today, not next week! For somedays, the right way IS the path of least resistance…

Oh yeah, and somedays, I add some dry mustard too. Oh yeah baby!

Very cool! I have had purple potatoes before, but I haven’t seen the other colored carrots.

    How fun!

  8. Oh, I’m so jealous of your garden! I didn’t plant one this year because we’re moving, but now I regret it. The veggies are absolutely beautiful!

We love rainbow carrots in our house too. Also next time consider swapping the cinnamon for garam masala. Somewhat similar, but so good!
