Carla is finished! (Well, except for the buttons on the collar.)
Pattern: “Carla” from “Debbie Bliss Summer Essentials”
Yarn: Debbie Bliss Cathay, 6 balls
Size made: Smallest
Needles: US4 for the body, US2 for the ribbing
Modifications: None other than to go down a needle size from the instructions.
Verdict: I think it turned out great, and I really like the feel and drape of the yarn, and I think it will be a very comfortable fabric for wearing in the summer. But you do have to be careful knitting with it because it’s very splitty.
My only quibble with the pattern was that just says to sew the collar to the neck edge, without giving any hints about a good way to go about that. I had the bright idea that it would be better to have the more visible seam on the “right” side, so that the collar would fold down over it and you’d have a nice smooth join showing on the inside of the collar. But as it turns out, the collar isn’t long enough to cover the seam in the back. So I’m planning to take the collar off and try something else.
If I were to knit it again, I’d make it an inch or two longer in the waist.
