Chasing the Rain

Published July 25, 2007 by cheryl

We got back last night from our trip to Southern Utah. We spent a long weekend enjoying some of the plays at the Shakespearian Festival (first time for us, believe it or not, after all these years), and we also got to ride quadrunners up into the mountains above Paragonah (another first). Throughout the weekend, the weather was alternately cloudy and rainy, but lady luck was shining bright. It was dry during our ride into the mountains, a friend’s BBQ dinner, and during the play we saw outdoors. When it rained, we were in museums, having breakfast, or it was at night. We couldn’t have timed it better.

On our drive home, we chased the rain north. We’d drive through the rain and pass it, only to make a stop that was just long enough for it to catch up. It was good to see the south get so much rain, when it’s so desperately needed.

More later on the trip (which was great), but not only did I pick up HP7 on the way home, but my sis is visiting again - so the vacation blog will have to wait a bit.

The raining thing sounds like that song from the musical Camelot :) “The rain may never fall ’til after sundown. By 9 pm the moonlight must appear…”

    hehe

Sounds like you had a great time! It’s been YEARS since I’ve been to the Shakespearean festival. Maybe we should start saving for a trip in the future.

We had rain on Monday. Despite the OUTRAGEOUS humidity, once it actually rained, it was nice. I’m weird, but there is something about the smell of wet desert.

LOL - I’m amused at the “OUTRAGEOUS humidity” comment. Our humidity has dropped to 63% today!
