I've got some soft leather and elastic and sewing skillz, so I'll bring some stuff next time to SnB and see if we can't make you something that will work better than your quilting thimble and be fitted perfectly to your finger. OK?

I thought about the thimble myself (cuz I have one too). If wearing it the regular way doesn't work, try cutting the end off so the tip of your finger comes through and will give you a bit of better control with the needles, the thimble just stays over the area that needs the padding. Worth a try!
